Description
These were left over from a restoration project a few years back of a Nikko (forerunner to Nikon) 60 degree inclined 15x80. This model uses a strip of spring steel strap, wound around the eyepiece housings in a figure-8 pattern, to adjust the eyepiece spacing (interpupillary distance). This cover served to cover and protect that steel strap. Includes the screws as shown. Impossibly rare to find if your Big Eyes are missing them, and a pretty complicated stamped part to recreate. Surface rust as shown but solid; should clean up nicely with sandblasting. If you're using the Seeger reference book, these binos are on Fig. 175.
I have included Seeger's figure, with red arrows pointing to this cover in use.
