Vintage Japanese Battleship Themed Metal Box

Description

Unusual Vintage Japanese Navy Battleship Themed Metal + Wood Box. On the lid a warship sits atop a beautifully sculptured wave filled sea. The metal the box is made out of is possibly pewter. It may have once been silver plated. The box is wood lined. Around the side is a frieze of tropical palm trees with the wood sides of the box showing through. The warship has three smokestacks a tower and gun turret. The bottom of the box is stamped "Made in Japan" The box was originally hinged but that mechanism has disappeared.
