SEVERAL YEARS AGO I BOUGHT A MILITARY REFERENCE LIBRARY WHICH INCLUDED A SELECTION OF RARE WW2 ERA AND OTHER JAPANESE WAR MOVIES. THESE ARE PROFESSIONAL TRANSFERS OF THE ORIGINAL FILMS BUT I DO NOT KNOW WHEN ,WHERE OR BY WHOM.
THEY ARE ALL RARE TITLES NEVER RELEASED IN THE WEST. MOST WERE MADE FOR JAPANESE DOMESTIC SHOW.
THESE INCLUDE COMMERCIAL PRODUCTION USING JAPANESE MILITARY EQUIPMENT AND MANPOWER AND AUTHORIZED BY THE GOVERNMENT AND SOME GOVERNMENT MADE TITLES WHICH LEAN MORE TOWARD THE PROPAGANDA FIELD BUT STILL INCLUDE SOME RARE FILM OF JAPANESE TROOPS, WEAPONS AND BATTLE SCENES.
SOME SCENES ARE OBVIOUSLY AND AMATEUR IN NATURE BUT REAL BATTLE FILM IS ALSO USED.
SOME COLOR BUT MOSTLY  BLACK AND WHITE ON DVD WITH JAPANESE LABELS.
I DO NOT UNDERSTAND JAPANESE. I HAVE WATCHED EACH OF THESE AT LEAST TWICE. THEY ARE UNIQUE IN THEIR PERSPECTIVE AND IN THE LOOK AT OF REAL PERIOD UNIFORMS,WEAPONS,CUSTOMS AND MANNERS.THE TRANSLATIONS OF THE TITLES WERE DONE BY LOCAL STUDENTS SO PLEASE ,JAPANESE SPEAKING FOLKS ,FORGIVE ANY ERRORS.
DESCRIPTIONS ARE ACCURATE WITH AN EYE TOWARD THE INTERESTS OF MILITARY COLLECTORS.

My interests are in technology and history and that is the primary focus of CRITTENDEN SCHMITT ARCHIVES. I seldom bother with the commercial war movies unless they are UNIQUE.
THIS ONE IS.
It is the Japanese perspective of the development of the ZERO fighter and its use from Pearl Harbor to the final Kamikazi raids.
DUBBED IN ENGLISH
Take a look at the photo and you will see just how much the Japanese ground crews loved this airplane.
It is a 2 hour color and sound commercial film which claims to have been released in 1984.
The primative special effects and amateur English dubbing remind me of Godzilla and it seems they used the same special effects team. It is not supposed to be a comedy but Americans will experience some chuckles.
An American 3 star general says " the Japanese can't even make a decent automobile much less an airplane which could reach Pearl Harbor".
Just then the Japanese attack. Plenty more like this as well.
The star ; YUZO KAYAMA is a big deal in Japan both as an actor and singer.
A very interesting film which I don't believe was made in 1984 or any time near that. It must have been in the can and on the shelf for a LOOOONG time.
Interesting to see WW 2 aircraft engineers with the MITZUBISHI insignia on their caps.
Released in Germany as KAMPFGESCHWADER ZERO , and elsewhere as ZERO FIGHTER BURNS AND ZERO FIGHTER IN FLAMES. The Japanese release title was ZEROSEN MOYU - which means " honorable Zero burning ".
