    Description

Japanese POW WWII Fabric Art Philippines Manila 248TH General Hospital. Received from Japanese Prisoner of War, 1946 Artist: D. Nakamoto (Signature faded but visible in upper left-hand corner of piece.)
Custody chain as written on back: SSGT. Jerry Lindahl -> 100th Station Hospital which included Filipino Scouts -> 248th General Hospital, Manila, Philipine Islands - 1946
I got this at an estate sale, the previous owner was apparently an antique dealer, so I do not have many details on this item. The artwork seems to be done in colored pencil as far as I can tell. The fabric is perhaps a sheet or other thin linen.
The frame appears to be in good condition. There is staining of unknown type and other light damage (See photos) given what this has been through seems normal wear. The back has a section cut out of the backing which has details in writing about the piece.
Overall, this is a very nice piece of artwork, well done by the artist, hopefully things turned out well for them. I do not read Japanese so I cannot translate the text but hope it is tasteful which it seems it would be.
The item is being sold used, as-is, no warranty, returns or refunds.
