    Description

This is an original Japanese Submarine, I have been told it is probably an Airplane Torpedo Attack Course plotting device (A.K.A. BANJO or Is-Was) in as found condition that is quite good in my opinion.
I am not sure of the year but I think it is from WWII.
I am sure it is Japanese because the top line on the brass plaque translates to say
    The
    Imperial Japanese Navy
During the 1930’s, nations developed various “slide rule” like devices to enable submarine commanders to predict the aiming point for moving targets. In the U.S. Navy, one such device was commonly called the “banjo” based on its general appearance. Another was similar to a circular slide rule and called the “is was”
Trying to find something like this has not happened for me in the 30 years I have had it, any info you can give me would be wonderful.
